Chuck Blanchard’s friends, co-workers, and family have known for a long time that he is “one to watch.” DAYL has known it too and is pleased to name him this month’s “One to Watch” before he leaves the ranks of “young.” Whether providing the punch lines in firm skits (and the occasional song), delivering favorable verdicts in the courtroom, or serving his community, Chuck inspires and entertains with self-effacing charm and wit. It doesn’t hurt that Chuck is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Chuck, a DAYL Foundation Fellow, has given substantial time to DAYL since 2003, serving as a co-chair for both the Triva Bowl and the Judicial Intern Committees. Trivia Bowl introduces new members to DAYL every year, and as the “Alex Trebek” of DAYL, Chuck has played a significant role in keeping it interesting. Chuck’s work with the Judicial Intern Committee has ensured that law students across the state have benefited from meaningful internships with Dallas County judges for over five years. Chuck is also a member of the United Way Young Leaders Society and is involved with the Friends of Katy Trail, the Junior Associates Circle, and the Dallas Museum of Art.
Chuck is a native of the Rio Grande Valley where he went to high school in McAllen. Earning his more senior status, he is a partner at Carrington Coleman where he was recently named an official DAYLmplics “tug-of-warrior.” Chuck is a two time graduate of Baylor University (with the Baylor Bear bobblehead in his office to prove it), repeating his magna cum laude undergrad distinction in law school. Chuck spends his free time training for sprint triathlons (infrequently) and entertaining his wife, Kathleen, with ditties on the guitar (he says “poorly but with gusto”). With Chuck’s involvement, DAYL leadership is always assured that projects will get done and get done well, and that is what makes him this month’s “One to Watch”!
