The DAYL Young In-House Counsel Committee invites you to an evening CLE program, with complimentary food and beverages, on November 28, 2018 at the office of Foley Gardere. Speaker Jason Binford will guide us through what young in-house counsel need to know about vendor, customer, and competitor bankruptcies including: pre-bankruptcy considerations, the scope of the automatic stay, claim priorities, preferences, and assumption/rejection of executory contracts. Networking will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the CLE program will begin at 6:15 p.m. Foley Gardere is located at 2021 McKinney Avenue, Suite 1600.
While being hosted by the Young In-House Counsel Committee, all DAYL members are encouraged to attend to improve on this skill important to all lawyers.
About the speaker: Jason Binford is a member of Foley Gardere’s Bankruptcy & Business Reorganizations and Distribution & Franchise Practices. He is the co-editor of the American Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Handbook for Franchisors and Franchisees, the only full-length book substantively analyzing the intersections of bankruptcy and franchise law. Jason’s experience also extends beyond bankruptcy/franchise issues, including the representations of debtors, creditor committees, lenders, creditors and every other meaningful stakeholder in large to mid-size Chapter 7 and 11 cases across a diverse set of industries. He has been recognized through board certifications from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the American Board of Certification, as well as being named a Rising Star and a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters every year since 2011.

Please join us at the DAYL Foundation Fellows Luncheon, which will be held at noon at the Belo Mansion on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. During the Luncheon, Carrington Coleman partner, Monica W. Latin, will receive the distinguished Award of Excellence, recognizing commitment to community service. Monica is widely known as a fierce litigator and she is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law. She has served on multiple boards locally and actively supports pro bono engagements, bar association activities, and projects designed to give back to organizations in need.
Matt Osborne with Operation Underground Railroad will be the Keynote Speaker at the Luncheon. Matt Osborne is Director of Strategic Initiatives for Operation Underground Railroad. Mr. Osborne served a 12-year career with the CIA and US Department of State working issues related to terrorism against the homeland. With Operation Underground Railroad, Mr. Osborne has led a total of 15 undercover rescue operations that resulted in the liberation of 171 human trafficking victims and in the arrest of 54 traffickers.
Individual tickets to the Luncheon are available for $35/person and include a plated lunch. Tables of ten are available for $350. The Luncheon will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., with a pre-event gathering beginning at 11:30 a.m.
