On June 26, 2013, the DAYL Foundation Board of Trustees met and approved the award of $15,880 in grants. Grants are awarded by the Foundation to organizations with projects and/or initiatives focusing in the area(s) of law-related education and research, charitable and legal aid for the public, including the delivery of legal services, and historical preservation and observances.
Twelve worthy organizations received grants this year to assist in accomplishing their project(s), they are: Center for Nonprofit Management, Children at Risk, Dallas One-Stop Optimized Re-entry System, Inc. (DOORS), Friends of Dallas Law Magnet High School: Law Magnet Close Up Club, Genesis Women’s Shelter, Girls Embracing Mothers, Inc. (GEM), Housing Crisis Center, Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, Jane’s Due Process, Inc., Mosaic Family Services Inc., Texas Loves Children, Inc., and Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation, Inc.
The Board would like to thank this year’s Grant Committee for their diligent efforts in reviewing and evaluating all of the grant applications. The 2013 Grant Committee was co-chaired by Rebekah Steely Brooker and Becky Niederstadt with the much appreciated assistance of committee members Jodi McShan and Sarah Rogers.
This was our 14th year of awarding grants and each year the Board and the Grants Committee spend many hours reviewing the applications received. On behalf of the DAYL Foundation, a huge thank you to all who participated in the process and gave of their time to continue the success of its grant program.
The DAYL Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, which awards grants to non-profit organizations and scholarships to law students.
