The DAYL Assisting Lawyers in Transition (“ALIT”) Committee will host a breakfast workshop on “How to Stay Active and Advance Your Career While Looking for a Job.” The program will be held on Tuesday, February 24th, beginning at 7:30 a.m., and will be held at Café Express Uptown, 3230 McKinney Avenue.
The featured panel discussion will offer practice-tested career-advancement strategies to unemployed attorneys attempting to find work, law students transitioning into practice, as well as practicing attorneys contemplating expanding adding a practice area or transitioning to a new firm.
The speakers will be: Aaron Tobin, partner at Anderson Tobin PLLC; Amanda Ghagar, corporate counsel at Hewlett-Packard; and Jason Kathman, partner at Pronske, Goolsby & Kathman, PC. The discussion will be moderated by Sophilia Hsu, associate at Fears Nachawati and co-chair of the DAYL ALIT Committee.
Discussion topics will include: (1) the relationship-based networking necessary for career moves in the Dallas market; (2) what unemployed attorneys should be doing daily and weekly to maintain their employability and maximize their chances of success; (3) how practicing attorneys can go about expanding their areas of expertise, or meeting potential new firms, without running afoul of their current responsibilities.
This will be a great program for attorneys who are in between jobs or for newly-graduated law students who are waiting for bar results.
There is no charge for DAYL members to attend this event. Breakfast (and coffee) will be available for purchase from Café Express. RSVP to Cherie Harris.
