The year 2020 marks the 24th year of DAYL’s Leadership Class, a pipeline program for young lawyers who want to hone their leadership skills and become more involved in the bar association or their community, while also learning valuable skills and connections that will help them become better lawyers.

Once DAYL realized that 2020 was not going to be a normal year by anyone’s standards, a decision had to be made: would DAYL continue the Legacy of Leadership that is the Leadership Class or would we take this year off? As we pondered the pros and cons, it was clear that only one decision could be made: the DAYL Leadership Class would continue… virtually!

This year we expected a smaller class size due to the pandemic and the virtual aspect of the program; however, we were thrilled to receive a strong response from young lawyers who were interested in participating! Once the class of thirty-five was selected, they, along with five Class facilitators, met for a half-day on both Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, to participate in the 2020 DAYL Virtual Leadership Class Retreat. The group will now spend the next year working with each other through various class-wide initiatives, which will be led by their class facilitators Dena DeNooyer Stroh, Mark Melton, Rebekah Brooker, Mey Ly, and Terry James.

DAYL is very excited to announce this year’s Leadership Class!
