The DAYL Bolton Ball is the premiere charity ball event organized by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (“DAYL”) Bolton Ball Committee and benefits the DAYL Foundation, a chartered 501(c)(3) organization. The DAYL Bolton Ball welcomes all professionals to attend this black-tie optional gala for a night of philanthropy, dancing, a live and silent auction, and other activities.
Since being named the beneficiary of the DAYL Bolton Ball, the DAYL Foundation has been able to give out a record amount of grants, both numerically and monetarily. Through its grants program, the DAYL Foundation provides funding for law-related matters to local non-profit organizations. It also provides scholarships to law students who have demonstrated a passion for community service.

Namesake – Alex Bolton
On October 21, 2017, we tragically lost a dear friend, loved one, and unforgettable shooting star, Alexander “Alex” Wade Bolton. Alex was born and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana, the youngest of a large family. After high school, Alex attended Baylor University and received his J.D. from the SMU Dedman School of Law, where he thrived as both a student and a leader. He practiced family law at the law firm of Duffee + Eitzen in Dallas. He was, and continues to be, loved by so many, including his partner, JR Gower. Alex loved to be involved, and that enjoyment led him to be part of a number of outside groups, including the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Vivaldi Patron Circle, and the Dallas Masonic Lodge. However, it was his love of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers that he treasured most.
Alex began his DAYL involvement in 2013 as a co-chair of the DAYL Law Student Assistance Committee. That same year, Alex was selected to be a member of the DAYL Leadership Class and was part of the group that founded the DAYL Charity Ball. Alex was elected by his peers to serve on the 2015 and 2016 DAYL Board of Directors and served as DAYL Secretary in 2017. He also served as the DAYL Bolton Ball Chair in 2016 and 2017. Shortly after he was elected to serve as the 2018 DAYL Treasurer, he lost his life in an automobile accident. The DAYL Charity Ball Committee set out to find a way to honor Alex’s legacy and service to last a lifetime, and at the 2018 DAYL Charity Ball, it was announced that from that day forward, the DAYL Charity Ball would be known as the DAYL Bolton Ball.
