The New York Times recently reported that, although women comprise around 50% of law school graduates, they represent less than 35% of lawyers at law firms and only 20% of equity partners at law firms. To address this issue, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and the Dallas Women Lawyers Association created the Continuing the Conversation Interview Series. Last year, there were several opportunities to hear from impressive female lawyers who have made their mark in the Dallas bar. The lawyers each told their tales of how they worked to be successful, with teachable moments for both men and women in attendance on how to survive and excel in the practice of law.
Our first event in the series this year will be held on July 25, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the Belo Mansion and will focus on the general counsel perspective with a panel discussion on what remains the central topic of the Continuing the Conversation series, which is keeping women in the pipeline to become equity partners. This panel will include Lanesha Minnix, Senior Vice President & Chief Legal Officer at Flowserve; Tracy Preston, SVP, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary & Chief Compliance Officer at Neiman Marcus Group; and Julia Simon, Chief Legal Officer and Corp. Secretary at Mary Kay Inc. and will be moderated by Monica Latin, Managing Partner-elect at Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal, L.L.P.
