Ethics in Jury Selection: Voir Social Media
The 2022 DAYL Dinner with the Judiciary will feature a one-hour CLE presentation on ethical issues that arise in jury selection, voir dire, and improper contact with prospective jurors. In the age where personal background information is easily accessible to all through the internet and specifically through social media, where are the lines drawn?
The impressive panel includes the Honorable Amos Mazzant, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the Honorable Bonnie Goldstein, Fifth District Court of Appeals, and Emily McDonald, Bloom Consulting. Dave Wishnew, of Crawford, Wishnew & Lang, will moderate.
Attendees can expect an insightful and entertaining presentation that includes the panelists’ experiences with these issues in jury selection and practice tips for staying vigilant for prospective pitfalls and handling proper juror investigation and communication. All Dallas-area judges have been invited to attend the event, so attendees can also expect an opportunity to meet and network with local judges
The Dinner will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the Arts District Mansion, starting with a cocktail hour at 5:45 p.m. Dinner and the presentation will start at 6:45 p.m. and will conclude at 8:00 p.m.
