What to Expect When You’re Expecting…Bar Results

You’ve taken the July 2017 bar exam…now what? Join the DAYL for the third annual What to Expect When You’re Expecting…Bar Results—a program designed for those who have recently taken the bar exam and plan to practice law in the Dallas area. Recently licensed attorneys are also welcome to attend. The program will consist of four speakers, each approximately 15-20 minutes in length, that will provide practical advice regarding your first job as an attorney. This program is geared towards current job-seekers and those that have secured employment.

1. Bills, Bills, Bills…How to Make your Budget Work for You
Law school graduates are often faced with competing financial obligations and goals. Learn strategies on how to balance it all as you plan for your future.

2. How to be a Happy Lawyer
Mental health is key to being a successful lawyer. Hear advice on how to avoid burn out, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and create a positive professional reputation.

3. Talking to Clients and Effective Billing Practices
Gain insight on how to manage client expectations, how to respond to a client in crisis, and how to draft client-focused time entries.

4. Turn Contacts into Job Leads, Referrals, and New Clients
Discussion on networking that compliments your personality and goals. Identify who you want to be networking with, what to say, and the art of the follow-up.
