August 2015
by Stephanie Gause
Jared Slade, a senior associate in Alston & Bird’s Litigation & Trial Practice Group, is this month’s DAYL One to Watch.
Slade participated in the 2014 DAYL Leadership Class and exhibited his leadership skills before the class concluded, taking on a position as a co-chair of the new Breakfast with Business Peers Committee for 2015. Slade has been instrumental in planning the new breakfast series, which feature industry-specific panelists and moderators to educate and enlighten interested DAYL members. The committee has organized two breakfasts so far this year, focusing on the oil and gas and real estate industry, and is busy planning a third and final breakfast scheduled for October 8th.
In addition to his involvement in DAYL, Jared co-chairs the DBA Publications Committee. He also is heavily involved in the Harvard Club of Dallas: he serves as its VP of Programs and recently was elected the organization’s President Elect. The Dallas Division of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas recently honored him with its Pro Bono Award of Merit. Slade, who has accepted trial appointments via the Pro Bono Civil Panel, is the second recipient of the award, which was created in 2014.
Slade focuses his legal practice on commercial litigation matters with an emphasis on financial services and real estate. He received his A.B. in government from Harvard University, where he met his wife Katy, and his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. Katy, whom Jared describes as a “superstar,” is a Director of Development for Gables Residential and also heavily involved in the Dallas community. Their two young daughters, Mackay (4) and Margaret (10 mos.), keep them busy. Congratulations to Jared for being chosen as DAYL’s August 2015 One to Watch!
