Jennifer Lewis, a senior associate at Farrow-Gillespie & Heath LLP, is this month’s One to Watch.  Jennifer’s primary practice areas are estate planning, probate, guardianships, corporate law, and taxation, and she is also a certified mediator with more than 100 hours of mediation experience in contract and consumer disputes.  Jennifer is a 2008 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, where she was business development editor for the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal, and an officer of the Texas Aggies Law Student Association and of the Christian Legal Society.

Jennifer was a member of the 2012 DAYL Leadership Class and a Life Fellow of the DAYL Foundation.  Every year since 2012, Jennifer has served as co-chair of the Elder Law Committee, which works to meet the legal needs of the elderly through various programs to educate senior citizens about their legal rights. In addition, the Elder Law Committee provides valuable educational information to attorneys who represent elderly clients.

In addition to her involvement with DAYL, Jennifer is also active with Advocates for Community Transformation, a non-profit in Dallas (http://actdallas.org/), which is leading the way in creating safer neighborhoods by educating inner-city residents, encouraging them to take a stand, and empowering them to use the justice system to fight crime in their neighborhoods.  As a result, the amount of drug houses have decreased, and the quality of life for the families in those neighborhoods has increased.  The result is a transformed community.

But Jennifer’s commitment to service does not end there.  In November 2014, Jennifer partnered with ALARM (African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries) and a team of Dallas-based lawyers to present a Justice Conference in South Sudan addressing anti-corruption, leadership, conflict resolution, and forgiveness to South Sudanese lawyers, judges, military officials, government employees, and pastors.

Jennifer’s dedication to the DAYL, her commitment to excellence in serving her clients, and her passion for service, both in Dallas and abroad, are just a few reasons why Jennifer is this month’s One to Watch.
