Shay Powell has only been practicing in Dallas for a year, but she is already One to Watch. Shay currently practices commercial litigation at Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, PC. Shay graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor of arts in psychology in 2010 and she received her law degree from Baylor University in 2014. Not only did Shay play soccer while at the University of Nebraska, where she lettered all four years and was named an ESPN CoSIDA Academic All-American, but she also played semi-professionally for the Colorado Force, the Ottowa Fury, and the Boston Renegades.

Shay is very active in DAYL, spending most of her time serving as a Co-Chair of the Wellness Committee, which arranges events aimed at keeping lawyers happy and healthy. This year the Wellness Committee has been busy hosing events such as Tea with the Monks and the DAYL Social at Luke’s Locker. Shay was particularly proud of the Wellness Committee’s most recent event – Rooftop Yoga, which took place on September 30 on the roof of The Mercantile Building. Through Shay’s leadership and others on the Wellness Committee, they have really reinvigorated the Committee and are planning some of the most talked about DAYL events. Shay is currently in the DAYL Leadership Class and can’t wait to work with her classmates to plan their class project.

In addition to her involvement in DAYL, Shay is an Associate Member of the William “Mac” Taylor Inn of Court. She is very interested in giving back to the Dallas community and is looking forward to learning about the various opportunities that are available through the DAYL Leadership Class.
