Andrew Speer is not only a powerhouse in the practice of law, but also in improving the Dallas community. Andrew is currently a fifth-year associate at O’Neil Wysocki P.C. and practices family law.
Andrew has a long track record of leadership and volunteerism. As an undergraduate student at University of California, San Diego, Andrew was President of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. While in law school, Andrew was also elected president of SMU’s Student Bar Association and was inducted into SMU Dedman School of Law’s Pro Bono Honor Roll by volunteering his legal services to the greater Dallas area.
Therefore, it came as no surprise Andrew sought out volunteer and leadership opportunities through the DAYL after graduating from SMU Dedman School of Law. A graduate of the 2018 DAYL Leadership Class, Andrew was a vital member of the leadership class project, Tastes from the Heart, which benefited the Heart House. Andrew kept track of the class’ financials and many of his leadership class peers frequently described Andrew as indispensable during the project. Andrew is also a Co-Chair of the DAYL Continuing Legal Education Committee.
Not only is Andrew active in the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, but he is currently active in the Dallas Bar Association, the Collin County Bar Association, and the State Bar of Texas, Family Law and Computer Technology Sections as well. Andrew continues to enrich his legal skills by graduating from the Collin County Bar Association Trial Skills Academy and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) Building Trial Skills Program. When not in court, Andrew shares what he has learned with the legal community, often shedding light on upcoming issues in family law by authoring several articles published in and outside of Texas, presenting at conferences, teaching CLE webinars, and guest hosting podcasts.
Between managing a flourishing legal career and devoting a significant amount of time to volunteering, Andrew is a member of his firm’s bowling league and a loving husband to his wife, Natalie. DAYL is honored to have Andrew as a member and this month’s “One to Watch.” Congratulations, Andrew!
