Ladies and gentlemen, look out for this One to Watch: Nicole Omielanczuk!

Nicole attended the University of North Texas, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. Initially, Nicole aspired to pursue a career in criminal justice. To that end, she started her legal career with an internship in the Collin County District Attorney’s Office.

Towards the end of her college career and throughout her time at UNT Dallas College of Law, Nicole interned at Nokia. During her almost four years at Nokia, Nicole developed a passion for privacy law and decided to pursue it after graduating from law school. Additionally, while attending law school, Nicole served as staff editor and eventually senior editor for the UNT Dallas College of Law “On the Cusp” Law Review. While juggling an impressive internship and law review experience, Nicole still found the time to join DAYL as a law student member and volunteered on the Bolton Ball and Freedom Run committees.

After sitting for the Texas bar in 2020, Nicole set her sights on joining HITRUST Services Corporation. While she awaited bar results, she served as HITRUST’s Contract Manager. Once she passed the bar, she was promoted to Associate Counsel and recently promoted to Assistant General Counsel. In her current role, Nicole identifies and analyzes various legal issues, drafts key agreements, advises top management, and ensures compliance with regulatory aspects of data collection and use, privacy notices, and other privacy related issues. Nicole is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for the United States (CIPP-US) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). She’s currently working towards becoming a Privacy Law Specialist/ABA certified in Privacy Law by the fall of 2023.

Nicole’s impressive educational and career achievements aside, what really makes Nicole stand out is her dedication to the Dallas community. Nicole is constantly volunteering to make a positive impact on others. For example, she recently spoke at the 2023 TML Youth Advisory Commission Summit on behalf of DAYL and inspired hundreds of at-risk youths from all over Texas to pursue a career in law. Additionally, Nicole volunteered to serve on the first-ever DAYL 2023 New Years Resolutions Social committee, which was such a success it will likely become a signature event. Currently, Nicole serves as social media chair for the Freedom Run Committee and is a member of the 2022 DAYL Leadership Class. Nicole truly believes in the positive impact DAYL can have and embodies the personal and professional development DAYL encourages.

It is clear to anyone paying attention that Nicole is going places.

When she has a second to spare, Nicole enjoys spending time reading, exploring the Dallas area restaurant scene, and staying active. She can often be found hiking at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve or spending time with her family and friends.
